85 Park Place: The Time Has Come
Georgia State College of Law faculty and staff have been very busy in the last few weeks, while preparing for our move on June 22.
Last week about 1500 crates were delivered to the Urban Life building so we could begin packing our belongings. Books, files, folders you name it, everything must go! Each office received 12 crates from Graebel Moving and Workplace Solutions to store our items, and three dollies to conveniently roll our crates, with no lifting involved.
The packing process is still taking place this week. The Philip C. Cook Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic has packed 52 crates from their area so far, and they’re still going at it. All packing should be done by June 17 and our first day in the new location is June 22.
Meanwhile, new furniture has been delivered to the new building at 85 Park Place. Faculty offices on the third floor of the new site have bookshelves, desks and chairs. Tables for some of the classrooms has arrived along with couches and comfy-looking chairs for the common areas. The atrium of the location now has lights hanging from the ceiling and the 6th floor outdoor terrace near the library contains plants.
This past Friday our new facility passed inspection and received a material completion. Keep in mind, although faculty and staff are moving into the new location at 85 Park Place, summer classes will be held in the College of Law’s Urban Life building located at 140 Decatur Street.
